Over 16,000 children reside in Illinois’s foster care system. These children have suffered abuse, neglect, and loss through no fault of their own. While in foster care, they often lack the permanency and stability necessary for them to feel safe, grow, and learn.
Foster children, varying in age from infancy to teenagers, have different and individual needs. Like all children, they have dreams and aspirations, but often lack the opportunities to make those dreams come true because of scarce governmental resources.
