Our Community of Illinois was founded in 2005 by professionals who work in the Juvenile Court system. We have observed the obstacles foster children face everyday. These hurdles include abuse and neglect resulting in emotional and developmental delays, multiple foster placements, and insufficient resources for needed services. We have witnessed how these obstacles affect our disadvantaged children. Youth often fall behind in school, some drop out altogether, and most never get the opportunities to learn the most basic skills necessary for a successful future. OCI aims to make a difference for these children. We strive to enrich lives and inspire hope in the foster children of our community.
